August PGA Championship (Professional Golf Championship)
The PGA Championship is hosted by the Professional Golfers Association of America. It started in 1916. Non-members are not eligible to participate. The champion can participate in PGA-hosted competitions without preliminaries throughout his life. From 1916 to 1957, the match play system was used. After 1958, it was changed to stroke play. The PGA Championship ranks second in the total prize money among the four major tournaments, and the prize money for the champion is second only to the Masters. It is held in August every year and is the last of the four major tournaments. Walter Hagen and Jack Nicklaus have won the championship five times respectively, and are the players who have won the most in this event.
